7355 - Limited edition titled 'An Accident' by L.S. Lowry with signed certificate of authenticity (signed by the Master Printer) 1 of only 99 published worldwide in special bespoke frame and mount. This is number 21 from the edition. To be supplied with a replacement valuation for £1800 (free of charge) In mint condition. This work was inspired by an incident in Pendlebury, Manchester. Lowry wrote a letter on 20 September 1930 ‚Äò‚Ķas to the subject. It was a case of a woman found drowned (suicide) some years ago in Pendlebury, a large crowd seemed to come absolutely from nowhere in no time. The incident rather got hold of me.‚Äô After a first showing in Leeds in 1927 under the title 'Something Wrong', this subject was shown again at the Six Manchester Art Club's Exhibition in 1930.
