BANKSY 3 Self Published Books 1st Ed 2001-04 & RARE and Crude Oils Postcard Set

BANKSY STREET ART, GRAFFITI.

A series of three, early, self-published books and Postcards by BANKSY to include, Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall, published by Weapons of Mass Distraction, 1st Edition, 2001. Existencilism, published by Weapons of Mass Distraction, 1st Edition, 2002. Cut it Out, published by Banksy, 1st Edition, 2004 and Crude Oils, 2005.

A scarce series uniform in size across the three publications, from early in BANKSY’S career, featuring photographs of his work accompanied by his own writing.

Contains pages and photos throughout his rise to fame cataloguing his artistic recognition of now lost artworks. Mix the irony and juxtaposition with the beauty of the finest aerosol art, and you'll have some idea of how good this really is. The books are interspersed with an excellent array of quotes, statements, letters and a beginners guide to painting with stencils. Very, very good.

‘Banging your head against a brick wall’ - The first incendiary collection of stencils and graffiti from Banksy, presented and bound in a handy pocket sized high quality format. Rarely have art and politics been put into such fine, and overtly anti-establishment context. Black and White print, 1st edition of Banksy Self written and self Published.

Published by Weapons of Mass Distraction, 1st Edition, 2001, Limited Edition, Paperback, 48 pages.

‘Existencilism’- the second, eagerly awaited Banksy collection. Same handy pocket size as Banging Your Head... now in full, glorious colour. As ever, the stencils and art are complemented with various commentary, thoughts and context from the man himself, together with various reviews and emails. Quite superb. Publisher: Banksy Paperback – 29 Dec. 2004

Mix the irony and juxtaposition of John Yates with the beauty of the finest aerosol art, and you'll have some idea of how good this really is. The reproductions are interspersed with an excellent array of quotes, statements, letters and a beginners guide to painting with stencils. Very, very good.

Published by Banksy, 1st edition, 2004, Limited Edition , Paperback, 72 pages.

‘Crude Oils Postcards October 2005’ - Crude Oils Post cards feature 10 versions of classical oil paintings, re-invented by Banksy.

Those works were traditional oils on canvas bought at flea markets around London that feature various Banksy-modifications: added motifs that evoke the fallout of present-day social decline. Chocolate-box landscapes are interrupted by burnt-out cars or police incident signs, a Renaissance Virgin and Christ child listen to an iPod, while traditional portrait subjects are transformed into gas mask wearing sitters. Now Immortalised on Card.

Published by Banksy, 1st edition, 2005, Limited Edition , Postcards, 10 cardboard images plus 1 cover page and 1 frontice piece.
