About the Art and Artist

This Pochoir or screenprint is in Vibrant gold and black, simplistic but detailed, the pochoir is set in complementary gold picture frame.

Pictured alone against a black backdrop, two young woman of this fashion illustration sport cloche hats and a sleek gold dress. Standing tall, the long, clean lines of their columnar skirts represent not only the changing silhouette of the 1920s but also the shifting mores that give the Jazz Age its sensational repute.

In 1912, Vogel launched his first magazine, the Gazette du bon ton, a collection of illustrations and editorials. His intention’s to breathe new life into the art of the illustrated press to better highlight the elegance of his time.

Lucien Antoine Hermann Vogel , born on December 13 , 1886 in Paris where he died on May 7 , 1954. A French publisher and man of the press, creator and director of several newspapers. An enlightened esthete of his time and a man of the world and of fashion.
