Antique 19th c. Bonheur du Jour with Sevres Plaque Lovely quality parquetry inlaid kingwood Bonheur du Jour. The top of three sections with brass galleries. To the centre a door with a beautiful hand painted bleu celeste Sevres porcelain panel, the surround of ormolu. The door opening on original lock and key to reveal a satinwood interior with shelf. The central space surmounted by three drawers to either side. Each drawer of shaped form with delicate gilt metal handle. To the base a frieze drawer running the width of the desk opens to reveal a tooled leather writing slope and space for papers, quills and ink. To the underside of the writing surface affixed a paper makers label for T.H.Filmers 32 Berners St Oxford St. Carried on four sweeping cabriole legs with ormolu mounts to the top running down to the sabots Measures 92 x 56 x 112 (height) cm. Good condition; attractive colour and patina. Sound structural condition. Some losses of veneer predominantly to legs. The frieze drawer with some stiffness. The veneer surrounding the tooled leather surface with some old damage. Original keys to the top and bottom
