About the ARTIST and the ART
'5G Universal Mind' is a multi-layered art piece which creates a screenprint and photorealistic concept that examines the connections between objects language and nature. Cyclops’s work combines images and photomargo to investigate how body language and visuals act as an essential means of expression.
Using multi-textured bases and collages, featuring cropped head portraits, patterned colour fields, benday dots and personal thoughts this is a dynamic piece of art.
Bristol-based Street artist Cyclops’s work creates a tribal fury combined with photo-realistic imagery creating an impressive style of his own.
Cyclops first tried his hand at graffiti at 13, and later went on to study at the Tony Romanoff School of wood craftsmen.
Cyclops, along with his painting partner sweet toof, was one of the uk’s most prolific street artists. If you have walked down any street in east London in the last few years, the chances are you would noticed one of the pairs street paintings.
Drawing on still life traditions, Cyclops highlights alternative objects such as flora, buttons and fire extinguishers, revitalizing these static objects with stimulating text to jolt viewers into actively engaging with them. Multilayered works such as For Ferguson, With Love (2015) challenge our understanding of common objects and how words affect their meaning
His work appeared at Tate Modern in 2008. An appearance in Exit Through the Gift Shop, at Banksy's request, ended in an arrest that can be seen in the Oscar-nominated documentary.
Through his work, he creates various figures, the most well know of which is his skull collaborated with graf artist Sweet Toof.
