About the Art and the Artist
The Di Faced tenner has many similarities of the BoE Tenner, but as usual Banksy has added his own humorous irony.
Also used by Banksys Pest Control on COA Certificate of Authenticities.
When a piece of Banksys Art is authenticated by Pest Control, one of the Di Faced Tenners is torn in half. One half is attached to the Pest Control issuing certificate, the other half is archived by Pest Control.
If the authenticated artwork is sold, Pest Control can then compare the unique tear of the Di Faced Tenner identify the owner, the issue a new COA to the new owner.
After the massive success of the 2002 exhibition Banksy realised that he needed a gimmick for his upcoming 2004 exhibition "Exit through the gift shop".
These Di-faced tenners were given out at the Notting Hill Carnival in 2004 to promote the exhibition but were so convincing at the time people were buying beers with them!
They should have kept them as they are considerably more valuable now.
The original idea of these tenners was to show support for HRH Diana The Princess of Wales, over the affair her husband was having at the time with Camila Parker-Bowles.
100,000 of these were produced.
To date the now famous tenners have been used at 5 Banksy public events. In 2019 The British museum acquired its first work by the anonymous graffiti artist, a fake £10 banknote.

Banksy made 100,000 of these, as featured in his film exit through the gift shop, well worth watching, but has subsequently only distributed a handful of these tenners over the years and therefore these are rare and highly collectible.
