8503 - Edredon Bleu: the award for top AQPS horse in the UK 1997-1999, in the form of an electroplated dish inscribed EDREDON BLEU, TOP AQPS HORSE IN THE UK, 1997 - 1999, OWNER: JIM LEWIS, OFFERED BY THE FRENCH ASSOCIATION OF AQPS, diameter 35cm., 13 3/4in. The acronym AQPS stands for Autre Que Pur-Sang, translated as ''other than thoroughbred.'' The designation usually means that one parent is not listed in the General Stud Book. Edredon Bleu was already a winner on the flat and over jumps in France before being purchased by Jim Lewis and sent to Henrietta Knight. In a highly successful career, Edredon Bleu's most notable wins include his three Grade 1 wins in the Queen Mother Champion Chase in 2000, the Ladbrokescasino.com Championship Chase in 2001 and the King George VI Chase in 2003. The gelding also won four back-to-back Peterborough Chases, two Haldon Gold Cups, the Desert Orchid Chase and a Clonmel Oil Chase.. H: 3.0cm W: 35.0cm D: 35.0cm
