SMOKEY ROBINSON & SHEPARD PRINT COLLABORATION

Hand signed by Shepard Fairy and Smokey Robinson with A (RARE) Certificate of Authenticity.

Shepard Fairey pays tribute to Smokey Robinson, in an Illustration of Smokey at the dawn of the ‘70s, showing off his Black Power fashion sense of the moment.

(RED) colourway is a Screenprint in colours of both Shepard and Smokey. Red Edition, signed and dated 'Shepard Fairey 09' lower right and signed by Smokey Robinson lower left with pencil limitation number 281/450, 60 x 45 cm,

Smokey came into the studio to hang out and sign them. He’s a really nice, upbeat guy who has a real lust for life – maybe that’s why he looks like he hasn’t aged in 30 years.

Smokey signed every single print with his very beautiful and painstaking signature. It’s worth picking up a print for that alone.

RED colourway is a SMOKEY ROBINSON & SHEPARD PRINT COLLABORATION in a landscape perspective.

To commemorate Smokey Robinson’s 50 years of music, Smokey and Shepard Fairey have just put their signatures on two limited edition prints created by Fairey.

American artist, Shepard Fairey, is the man many hail as the originator of the modern urban art scene and is an undeniable phenomenon. First coming to prominence in 1989 with his now ubiquitous ‘Obey Giant’ sticker campaign, the self styled phenomenologist has since gone on to become one of the most recognisable artists of the early 2000’s.

A major figure of the contemporary street art movement, Shepard Fairey rose to prominence in the early 1990s with his “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” campaign, which distributed posters, stickers, and murals featuring the eponymous wrestler Andre the Giant around Providence, Rhode Island.

Fairey’s iconic 2008. “Hope” campaign poster for President Barack Obama encapsulates a number of the artist’s recurring concerns, including propaganda, portraiture, and political power.
