'Water Lilies' is not the name of a single painting, but a name given to a series of works and Monet during his lifetime painted more than 250 water lily paintings. Monet himself admitted that these landscapes of water and reflection have become an obsession. He had a large studio built in his garden measuring 12m x 24m which enabled him to paint this huge canvas and they represent not just what he saw, but what he felt.
