Description

Vintage J.P. Guivier, London — Unusual Wooden and Metal Accessory (Possibly a Cello or Double Bass Practice Mute) We are offering this unusual vintage item made by J.P. Guivier, London, a well-known maker and supplier of string instruments and accessories since the 19th century. We believe it may be a practice mute or string dampener for a cello or double bass, though we are not experts and cannot say for certain. It features a wooden centrepiece with a series of small, graduated holes, and two long metal arms that end in circular loops. The wooden section is clearly stamped: "THE VEEJAY © / J.P. GUIVIER, LONDON" It’s a well-made and interesting piece, likely to appeal to musicians, collectors, or those with an interest in unusual vintage objects. Condition: Good vintage condition overall. There are some light marks and signs of age, as you’d expect. We have noticed a slight bowing to the metal arms, but this doesn’t detract from its charm or display value. Dimensions: Length (folded): 51.5 cm
