Mid-20th Century Carved Wooden Figure of a Fisherman Carved wooden figure of a seated fisherman, likely made in Bali or Java in the mid-20th century. The man is shown in a traditional conical hat, holding a long fishing rod with a carved fish suspended from a string. A small basket and stylised foliage are carved beside him. The figure is made from a dense tropical hardwood, probably suar wood, with a dark grain and a naturally developed patina. There is a surface crack to the underside and some age-related wear, but overall the carving remains well defined.
