Long Vintage Giltwood Window Seat / Stool – Buttoned Upholstery A well-proportioned vintage window seat with carved giltwood frame and buttoned upholstered top. The frame is of a gently curved form with five tapering legs – three to the front and two to the rear – each with floral corner blocks and fluted detailing, characteristic of Neoclassical influence. The frame retains much of its original gilding, with some areas of wear and touch-up visible, and a few small losses to the gold leaf consistent with age and use. Structurally, the piece is sound and stable. The seat is upholstered in a soft, silver-grey buttoned fabric with a lightly crushed velvet appearance. The upholstery is serviceable but shows various marks and old stains, particularly to the central section, and there is some general wear. Dimensions: 170 cm wide x 60 cm deep x 45 cm high A decorative and substantial piece, ideal for use at the end of a bed, beneath a window, or in a wide hallway. Displays well, while showing expected signs of age and use.
