Description

Early 20th Century Wingback Armchair with Carved Ball & Claw Feet – For Restoration A substantial and traditionally styled wingback armchair, likely dating to the early 20th century, drawing influence from the George II revival popular in the Edwardian period. The chair features a solid hardwood frame (possibly mahogany or similar), raised on carved cabriole front legs with shell detail and ball and claw feet. The rear legs are plain and slightly splayed, typical of the period. The upholstery, in a faded rose-pink velvet or moquette, is worn and deteriorated, with visible staining, discolouration, tearing, and significant sagging to the seat and underside. The chair is offered as a project for complete reupholstery. The frame appears generally sound, though has some surface marks and wear consistent with age and use. Dimensions: Height: 110 cm Width: 86 cm Depth: 85 cm Condition Report: Upholstery in poor condition throughout: faded, stained, torn, and with damage to seat and webbing. Some marks and scuffs to the wooden legs. Frame appears structurally stable, though sold as seen for restoration purposes. This is a characterful piece with good proportions and attractive carved legs — ideal for reupholstery and reuse in a period or eclectic interior.
