Antique 19th C. English Hand Painted Porcelain Plate Mallard Duck

Antique 19th C. English Hand Painted Porcelain Plate Mallard Duck Fine hand painted cabinet plate. A mallard duck in flight. Signed by the artist with a monogrammed signature E.D. and dated 1897 Bishop & Stonier porcelain. To the reverse the plate bears a caduceus stamp. The caduceus was a staff carried by Hermes, the messenger of the gods, and is a symbol of peace. The mark was registered as a trade mark by Powell & Bishop in 1876 and was subsequently used by the partnership including Powell, Bishop & Stonier. The plate loops to the reverse for easy hanging. No chips, cracks or repairs. A little light wear to the gilding in align with age.
