Description

Pair of French Ceramic Moonflask Vases France, circa 1900–1920
A vibrant and highly decorative pair of ceramic moonflask vases, almost certainly French and dating from the early 20th century.
Of flattened globular form with tall necks, each is hand-painted in a bold and colourful palette of cobalt, yellow, green, red, and black on a rich turquoise ground.
The decoration features a central urn overflowing with stylised blooms, framed by floral garlands and dot motifs.
The reverse sides are equally detailed, with large floral medallions and scattered sprigs.
The design and raised black outlining are reminiscent of the cloisonné-style enamel work associated with Longwy ceramics of the period, though the vases are unmarked.
Both vases are in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
A fine craquelure is visible throughout, entirely commensurate with age.

Dimensions (each):
Height: 27.5 cm
Width: 22 cm
Depth: 11 cm
