Description
A charming small cold-painted bronze figural group, likely Austrian, dating to around 1900.
The scene depicts a man seated on a low block with two children attentively seated before him, possibly illustrating a teaching or storytelling moment.
The figures are finely modelled and painted using the traditional cold-painting technique, where the vibrant colours are applied by hand after casting.
The group is set upon a shaped base, evocative of a carpet or ground.
Dimensions:
Length: 10.5 cm
Width: 4 cm
Height: 4.5 cm
Condition: Good overall vintage condition.
Some expected wear and small losses to the paintwork, along with minor casting holes to the metal, as shown in the photographs.
These are consistent with age and handling and do not detract from the piece's character.
An attractive example of late 19th to early 20th century cold-painted bronze, ideal for collectors of Vienna bronzes, Orientalist subjects, or decorative metalwork.
