Description
A handsome and well-proportioned Georgian brass trivet, dating from the early 19th century.
The square top is attractively pierced with a radiating foliate design and scrolled corner motifs, bordered by a scalloped edge with repeating cutwork details.
Raised on a turned and stepped column with a domed foot, the piece shows clear signs of age and use, including surface wear and tarnishing consistent with its period.
Dimensions: 25 cm high x 20 cm square
Material: Brass
Condition: Good, original condition throughout.
Marks, tarnish and wear in keeping with age and use.
The underside shows oxidisation and old patination.
A characterful and practical piece, once used to support a kettle or pan near the hearth, now decorative in its own right or useful for display.
