Description
A well-cast and finely modelled bronze figure, dating to the late nineteenth century, signed Lemoyne to the naturalistic base.
The figure, confidently posed, holds a laurel wreath aloft in his right hand and a classical cup in his left, representing an allegory of Victory or Triumph.
Cast using the traditional sand-casting method, the piece retains its original dark brown patina with some light wear consistent with age.
Surface lines are visible to the upper arms from the casting process.
Two small holes to the front of the base indicate where a title plaque was formerly mounted.
An impressive and decorative bronze of good size, typical of the Beaux-Arts tradition.
Dimensions: 20 cm wide x 25 cm deep x 59 cm high.
Date: Circa 1880–1910.
Condition: Good original condition with minor wear and small surface marks.
No restoration.
