Description
A finely painted pair of antique stained glass panels, each depicting a romantic medieval couple in a naturalistic setting.
Executed in coloured enamels and silver stain on glass, the scenes are rich in detail and colour, with courtly figures in 15th-century attire and backgrounds featuring castles, gardens, and floral motifs.
Each panel is framed in lead cames with coloured glass borders and decorative roundels, characteristic of the Gothic Revival style popular in the late 19th century.
Likely produced in England or possibly Continental Europe (France or Germany), circa 1880–1900.
Dimensions: Each panel measures approximately 61 × 61 cm
Medium: Painted and stained glass with leaded construction
Origin: Likely English or Continental, Gothic Revival period
Date: Circa 1880–1900
Condition: Fragile. Some cracks and losses as shown; sections of broken glass have been secured with tape.
A few pieces are missing.
Despite the damage, both panels remain highly decorative and of fine quality, and would be well worth restoring.
An attractive and decorative pair of antique stained glass panels, ideal for sympathetic restoration or display.
