Description
A beautiful vintage brooch featuring a striking abalone shell set in an ornate sterling silver frame (unmarked but tests as sterling).
The abalone shell exhibits a mesmerising play of colours, with shifting hues of deep blues, purples, and greens characteristic of this natural material.
Abalone, a type of marine mollusc, is highly prized for its iridescent nacre, also known as mother-of-pearl.
Each piece of abalone is unique, with its swirling patterns and vibrant colours formed naturally by the mollusc over time.
Revered in jewellery-making for centuries, abalone is often associated with protection, intuition, and connection to the ocean.
Dimensions: 3.5 x 4 x 1 cm
Weight: 13.1 g
Condition: Good vintage condition, with patina to the silver commensurate with age.
A charming and wearable piece of vintage jewellery, perfect for collectors or those who appreciate nature’s artistry.
