Description

Antique/Vintage Silver Filigree Butterfly Brooch with Turquoise Cabochons
A finely crafted silver filigree butterfly brooch, likely from the early to mid-20th century, exhibiting exceptional hand-worked detailing.
The delicate openwork filigree wings are adorned with five round turquoise cabochons, enhancing the brooch’s elegance and charm.
Filigree jewellery of this type is often associated with Maltese, Portuguese, or Chinese craftsmanship, all of which have a strong tradition of producing intricate silver filigree pieces.
The lack of hallmarking suggests it may have been made in a region where silver was not consistently marked, though it appears to be of 800-900 silver content.
The brooch is fitted with a brass pin and clasp, which is typical of older filigree jewellery and remains in good working order.

Key Details:
Era: Early to mid-20th century
Material: Unmarked, likely silver filigree
Stones: Five round turquoise cabochons
Dimensions: Approx. 7 cm x 5 cm x 2 cm
Clasp: Brass pin and catch, firm and secure
Condition: Good vintage condition with an attractive aged patina, minor wear commensurate with age

This brooch is a beautifully detailed piece of vintage jewellery, perfect for collectors of antique filigree work, lovers of butterfly motifs, or those who appreciate delicate, handcrafted silver jewellery.
