Antique Gilt Metal Jardiniere with Floral Relief – Possibly Oriental, c.1880–1920 A decorative antique gilt metal jardiniere or planter, possibly of Chinese or Japanese export origin, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Cast in copper-alloy with a rich gilt relief band of stylised floral decoration around the upper body, the pot has a wide rim and deep interior, suitable for use or display. The lower body and base show signs of age and oxidation, with a worn patina and traces of old verdigris. The interior remains unlined. To the underside is an indistinct incised or cast mark, obscured by wear and corrosion, and not conclusively identifiable. Measurements: 23 cm diameter x 18 cm height Condition: Good decorative condition with wear and surface marks throughout. Oxidation, discolouration, and rubbing to the finish in line with age and use. The gilding remains visible to the relief decoration. Structurally sound.
