Large Victorian Leather-Bound Holy Bible – Oxford, 1865 A substantial mid-19th century Holy Bible, printed in 1865 by the Oxford University Press for the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. Bound in original full leather with blind-stamped panelled boards and gilt title to the spine. The front cover bears the SPCK emblem: “Founded 1698”. Contains the Old and New Testaments in the Authorised Version (King James), with introductory prayers and the traditional dedication to King James I. Printed in double-column format throughout. A complete example in good, used condition. The leather binding shows wear and surface cracking, with rubbing to edges and corners.
