Victorian Silver Aide Mémoire/Card Case by Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1898 A charming late Victorian sterling silver card case or aide mémoire, beautifully engraved throughout with a dense foliate pattern. The front is inscribed within a shield cartouche: "Nov 1st 1906 from H.C.P". Fitted with a chain and finger ring, as often used for reticules or chatelaine accessories. Fully hallmarked to both sides for Joseph Gloster, Birmingham, 1898. The front hallmark is slightly rubbed but remains legible. The interior is lined with original brown leather compartments, which show wear and signs of use including looseness, staining, and period ink notations. The hinge and clasp are sound. Dimensions: 9.5 x 7 x 1 cm Weight: 95.8 grams Condition: Wear and dinks consistent with age and use; the silver with surface marks and small bruises. Interior worn but intact.
