19th Century French Mantel Clock with Brass Inlay – Japy Frères Movement France, c. 1860–1880 A decorative 19th-century French mantel clock, the case constructed in stained hardwood with brass inlay. The octagonal housing for the dial is set above a rectangular base, both decorated with applied brass panels featuring heraldic and equestrian scenes. Finial to the top and applied ring handles to either side. The white enamelled dial with Roman numerals is framed in a gilded bezel. The backplate of the movement bears the stamped mark of Japy Frères, a known French maker active in the mid to late 19th century. Height: 55 cm Width: 37 cm Depth: 17 cm Condition: Case in good overall order. Some light wear and minor lifting to the brass inlay. Lacquered surface is a later addition. Movement runs in the showroom, but has not been tested over time and is sold as seen, without guarantee. No key or pendulum included.
