George III Mahogany “Dumfries House” Chest of Drawers, c.1770 A fine quality George III mahogany chest of drawers, of the type associated with Dumfries House, dating to c.1770. Well proportioned, with three short drawers over three graduated long drawers, and raised on bold ogee bracket feet. Fitted with brass swan-neck handles and complete with keys. Attractive colour and good patina to the mahogany. The drawers are clean and run well. Structurally sound and of good weight. Some minor wear, surface marks and a little shrinkage to the sides, all consistent with age. A handsome and practical piece of late 18th-century English furniture.
