Long Vintage Carved Gilt Stool Window Seat

Mid-20th Century Giltwood Window Seat in the Louis XVI Style A long vintage giltwood window seat, c.1950s–70s, made in the Louis XVI style. The frame is gently curved, with five fluted legs (three to the front, two to the rear) and carved floral motifs to the corners. The frame retains much of its original gilding, now naturally worn in places, with areas of rubbing and small touch-ups visible. The piece remains structurally sound and of good quality construction. The buttoned seat is upholstered in a silver-grey velvet-style fabric, which shows general signs of age and use including scattered marks and light stains. While usable as is, the upholstery would benefit from replacement. Dimensions: 170 cm wide x 60 cm deep x 45 cm high A decorative and well-proportioned piece with presence, suitable for reupholstery and restoration. Ideal for use at the foot of a bed or in a wide window bay.
