Description

Antique Georgian Mahogany Tea Caddy – c.1810 A good Georgian period twin-compartment tea caddy, dating to the early 19th century. Crafted from rich figured mahogany with boxwood stringing, the caddy features a classical cast brass handle to the lid and a shaped bone (or ivory) escutcheon to the front. The interior retains its original lead-lined compartments and fitted lids, each with a small turned bone knob. Raised on four small brass bun feet, and with a maroon paper lining to the lid interior, likely later. Some surface marks, minor scratches, and age-related wear, but overall an attractive and well-preserved example. Original key present, though the key ring shows wear. Dimensions: 23 cm wide x 14 cm deep x 17 cm high
