Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Cigar Piercer – Edward Baker, Birmingham 1897 A fine late Victorian gentleman’s sterling silver cigar piercer, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1897 and bearing the maker’s mark of Edward Baker. Of elegant tapered form, the piece is engine-turned throughout and fitted with a knurled screw cap, concealing a retractable steel spike operated by twist action. The end ring suggests it was intended for use as a fob or chatelaine accessory — a smart and practical tool for the discerning Victorian smoker. Clearly struck hallmarks include the lion passant for sterling, the Birmingham anchor, date letter ‘x’ for 1897, and maker’s mark 'E.B'.
