Description

George III Silver Sixpence – 1819 A Georgian silver sixpence from the reign of King George III, dated 1819. The obverse bears a finely detailed laureate bust of the King facing right, with the legend GEOR III D:G: BRITT REX F:D. The reverse shows a crowned shield with the Royal Arms, encircled by the Order of the Garter motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. Struck in sterling silver, this is a well-proportioned and tactile piece of Regency-era coinage. The surfaces show honest wear with good detail remaining, and a pleasing age-toned patina. The milling is still evident to the edge. Weight: 2.7 grams Diameter: 1.9 cm Silver (.925 fine) London Mint Dated: 1819
