Description

Antique Chinese Porcelain Snuff Bottle, c.1900 – Winter Landscape in Relief A late Qing to early Republic period Chinese porcelain snuff bottle, dating to circa 1890–1920, of cylindrical form and decorated with a raised winter landscape scene. The body is finely worked in relief with two figures leading an ox through a snow-covered landscape, with trees and distant hills modelled in shallow relief. Subtle hand-painted enamel accents in red, blue and black bring detail to the scene, which is set against a soft grey crackle-glazed ground. The bottle is unmarked, with a flat, unglazed footrim and no stopper present. One raised element near the shoulder, resembling a peak or rock formation, is part of the original design and not damage. The glaze shows light wear and age-related soiling, but the piece remains in good sound condition overall. Dimensions: 7 cm high x 3 cm diameter Date: Circa 1900 Condition: Good antique condition. Some surface wear; stopper lacking; no chips or cracks. Origin: China
