Description

Antique Edwardian Brass Fireplace Fender & Matching Fire Irons – Reg. Design 1905 A fine Edwardian brass fireplace set comprising fender, three fire irons, a matching poker rest, and fire iron stand — all of matching design and dating to the early 20th century. The fender is cast with a neoclassical swag and mask motif and bears a Registered Design number 464428, dating it to the year 1905. The three fire irons — tongs, shovel, and poker — are unusually well-matched and of the same design family, with square-section shafts and shaped handles. The shovel has a broad, shaped pan, and the poker retains its original turned wooden handle. Also included is a matching brass poker rest and a fire iron stand with shaped support arms and cast detail to the base. The set has been recently polished and presents very well. Dimensions: Fender: 137.5 cm wide x 38.5 cm deep x 26.5 cm high Fire irons: approx. 67 cm long each Condition: Good presentation. Some wear and surface marks consistent with age and use. The set has been sympathetically cleaned. An unusual and well-preserved Edwardian fireplace ensemble, seldom seen complete.
