Antique Copeland Parian Bust of Clytie – C. Delpech, Art Union of London 1868 Fine antique 19th-century Parian ware bust of Clytie, sculpted by C. Delpech and produced by Copeland in 1868 for the Art Union of London. This elegant classical bust depicts the Greek nymph Clytie, associated with unrequited love and transformation into a sunflower. Beautifully modelled with serene facial features, detailed hair, and softly draped clothing. The bust is mounted on an integrated socle base with impressed marks including: – C. DELPECH, REDᵀ – COPELAND – ART UNION OF LONDON 1868 Made in Parian porcelain, known for its smooth marble-like finish and widely admired in the Victorian period. Measurements: Height: 34.5 cm Width: 16 cm Depth: 24 cm Condition: Good antique condition. Minor chip to the lower base rim, largely concealed beneath the overhanging bust and not distracting when displayed. No cracks, repairs, or major wear. A desirable example of Victorian classical sculpture.
