Antique Analytical Balance Scale by W. & T. Avery Ltd, Birmingham English, early 20th century A finely crafted analytical balance by W. & T. Avery Ltd, Birmingham, housed in its original glazed oak case with bevelled glass panels to all sides including the top. The brass beam is clearly stamped with the maker’s name, and the balance features a central plumb line, two steel pans, and a complete mechanism operated via a brass lever to the front. The interior retains a fine selection of original weights (one missing), a removable weight tray, tweezers in the original recess, and a faceted glass spirit level for precision levelling. The oak case is raised on brass feet with screw-adjusters. Maker: W. & T. Avery Ltd, Birmingham Dimensions: 40 cm wide x 22 cm deep x 38 cm high Condition: Good condition overall. The brass components show some natural age-related toning. One small weight is missing from the original set. The rear right foot is currently weighted with old packing and may require adjustment or attention to restore original levelling. Mechanism appears complete, though sold as seen and untested for accuracy.
