Monumental English Hand-Cut Crystal Exhibition Bowl, circa 1920–1940 A superb and imposing cut crystal centrepiece bowl, dating from the early 20th century and almost certainly of English origin. This remarkable piece represents exhibition-level craftsmanship, combining excellent clarity with deep, sharply executed cutting and considerable scale. Of deep circular form with a finely scalloped rim, the body is extensively decorated with a bold cross-cut diamond pattern, refracting light to striking effect. The base is finished with a large, well-defined twenty-four-point starburst within a polished foot ring. The depth and sharpness of the wheel-cut decoration suggest the work of a leading English glasshouse, such as Webb or Stuart, during the interwar period. The quality of the crystal — its weight, brightness, and cutting precision — indicate high lead content and careful hand-finishing. While unmarked, the scale and execution place it firmly among the finest English cut glass of the early 20th century, and it may well have been intended for display or exhibition purposes rather than general domestic use. An outstanding decorative object, this bowl makes a striking impression whether used as a formal centrepiece or placed as a standalone showpiece.
