Description

Set of Four Ruby Overlay Crystal Vases by Violetta A fine and decorative set of four ruby overlay cut-to-clear crystal vases produced by Violetta in Poland during the late 20th century. These elegant vases exemplify the craftsmanship and stylistic flair associated with Polish crystal-making during this period. Each vase is hand-crafted in 24% lead crystal and features a striking deep ruby overlay, expertly cut through to reveal a clear crystal base. The pattern is composed of stylised petal and vertical prism motifs that catch and refract the light beautifully, adding depth and texture to the surface. The vibrant ruby red contrasts crisply with the clear crystal underneath, demonstrating both precision and artistry in the cutting process. The form of each vase is flared and gently waisted, giving a sense of lightness and elegance despite the solid construction. They are raised on clear square pedestal bases, each deeply star-cut to the underside and edged with finely scalloped detailing — a subtle but refined feature. These vases are both decorative and functional, ideal for use as accent pieces or grouped together for dramatic effect. All four vases retain their original green and gold foil labels, marked: “Violetta – Made in Poland – 24% PbO Cut Lead Crystal.” Dimensions: Height: 17 cm (6.7 inches) Diameter at widest: 12.5 cm (4.9 inches) Condition: All four vases are in very good vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor wear to the base edges consistent with careful display and age. Provenance: Poland, late 20th century Manufacturer: Violetta Crystal This is an attractive and well-preserved set, showcasing the enduring appeal of overlay crystal and the technical skill involved in its production.
