Antique Bradley & Hubbard 'John Bull' Blinking Eye Clock – Pat. 1887 A late 19th century cast iron novelty mantel clock by Bradley & Hubbard of Meriden, Connecticut, depicting the character of John Bull in Victorian attire. The enamelled dial has painted Roman numerals and blued steel hands within a brass bezel. The figure’s eyes are designed to blink side-to-side in motion with the escapement. The base is cast with the maker’s name and the U.S. patent date of June 14, 1887. The original mechanical movement is present but believed to be unworking and requires attention. The blinking eye mechanism is intact and retains its full range of motion. The painted surface is in good condition with wear and rubbing consistent with age. Case structurally sound.
