Description

Pair of 19th Century French Ormolu Table Lamps with Animal Form Feet A fine and decorative pair of late 19th century French ormolu table lamps, richly cast and crisply detailed. The openwork bodies feature elaborate scrolling foliage, classical motifs and figural elements, raised on striking animal-form feet with expressive detail. Each lamp retains a mellow patinated finish with traces of verdigris to the crevices, adding character and authenticity. The bases are heavy and well-balanced, suggesting high-quality manufacture. Likely originally conceived as decorative vases or garniture and later converted to lamps in the early 20th century. Fully rewired and in working condition. Supplied with recent bespoke green fabric shades of excellent quality, chosen to complement the warm tones of the gilt bronze. Dimensions (including shades): Height: 61.5 cm (24.2 in) Diameter: 36 cm (14.2 in) Condition: Very good overall condition. Light rubbing to the gilded surfaces and some oxidised patina in recesses, all consistent with age and enhancing the antique aesthetic. Professionally rewired with vintage-style flex. Origin: France Date: Circa 1880
