Antique Swiss Souvenir Agate Box – Zurich, c.1900 A charming small circular souvenir box, dating to around 1900, with banded agate panels set to both lid and base within a gilt metal mount. The lid is finely engraved Zurich, suggesting it was sold as a keepsake or memento from the Swiss city at the turn of the century. The box is hinged, opening to reveal a polished agate interior, and would have originally been intended for small trinkets, pills, or snuff. The agate displays warm red and orange tones with natural banding, a decorative feature much appreciated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Dimensions: 4 cm x 4 cm x 1.5 cm Condition: Age-related wear to the metal mount; agate remains in good order with minor surface marks.
