Georgian Sterling Silver & Gilt Snuff Box – Joseph Ash I, London 1802 A Georgian sterling silver snuff box of curved rectangular form, hallmarked for London 1802 with the maker’s mark of Joseph Ash I. The interior is gilded, with full hallmarks struck to the inner base and a corresponding set to the underside of the lid. The marks to the lid are partially rubbed but legible. The hinged lid is engraved with a monogram within a dotted cartouche. The box closes securely with a crisp action and has a good tactile feel in the hand. Condition is good overall. The silver shows surface wear, small dents and scratches, mainly to the lid, consistent with age and use. The interior gilding remains bright, with some wear in places.
