Description

Victorian Hand-Painted & Gilded Porcelain Moon Flask Vase, c.1890 A fine quality hand-painted and gilded porcelain moon flask vase, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, possibly by Minton or another leading English maker. The vase is raised on four moulded gilt feet, with twin angular handles and gilt rim. The front is decorated with a detailed portrait of a Victorian lady in a wide feathered hat and purple gown, signed Boiston to the lower right. The reverse carries a raised gilt foliate design in the Aesthetic style. The portrait remains vivid and the gilding retains good brightness. There are some stained hairline cracks to the rim which appear stable and confined to the top section (see photographs). No restoration observed. Dimensions: Height: 23.5 cm Width: 19 cm Depth: 7 cm
