Japanese Moriage Satsuma-Style Vase with Dragon Handles, c.1920 An impressive early 20th-century Japanese Satsuma-style vase, decorated throughout in raised moriage enamels and gilt. The baluster form features a wide flared neck with applied dragon handles, the body finely hand-painted with richly detailed figural scenes of courtiers and attendants in elaborate robes, set within patterned grounds highlighted with bold relief enamelling. The reverse is decorated with floral and scrolling designs, with a hand-painted character mark to the base. A striking decorative piece in vibrant colours, typical of Japanese export wares of the Taisho–early Showa period. Dimensions: 16 x 16 x 39.5 (height) cm Condition: Good decorative order, minor rubbing to the gilding and light surface wear consistent with age.
