Description
Victorian Oval Papier Mâché Tray by Benetfink & Co, London c.1870
Fine decorative oval papier mâché tray, inlaid with mother-of-pearl and highlighted with gilt scrollwork on a black ground. The central oval medallion is decorated with inlaid leaves and berries, surrounded by further foliate and geometric ornament. The outer border features an inlaid mother-of-pearl band and gilt decoration.
Stamped to the reverse Benetfink & Co, 26 Cheapside, London.
Dimensions: 63cm x 48cm
Offered in good condition. Sound structure, little age-related surface wear, rubbing to gilt, and small losses to inlay.
