Description

Japanese Oribe Ware Dish – Circa 1850–1870 A small Japanese stoneware dish from the Mino kilns, dating to the mid-19th century. Decorated in the Oribe style with flowing iron-oxide brushwork and traces of green copper glaze, arranged around a central roundel. The glaze is soft with natural pooling, and the underside is unglazed with a recessed foot and firing grit. Diameter 7 cm. Height 1.5 cm. Condition: Old rim chips and wear throughout, one area with early filler repair to rim. An attractive and decorative example of regional Japanese ceramic ware from the Edo–Meiji transition.
