Description

Pair of Japanese Imari Bowls – Meiji Period, c.1900 A decorative pair of Japanese Imari porcelain bowls dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1900. Each bowl is of scalloped form and finely hand-painted in the traditional Imari palette of underglaze blue, iron red and gilt. Both feature alternating floral and patterned panels around a central roundel. The larger bowl measures approximately 18 cm in diameter, the smaller 16 cm. Unmarked to the base, as commonly found with period Imari wares. Condition is good throughout with some light surface wear and minor rubbing to the enamels consistent with age.
