Fine Early 20th Century Giltwood Floor Lamp with Handmade Silk Shade A fine and impressive early 20th century giltwood floor lamp of lovely quality. The tall fluted column is richly carved with acanthus leaf and laurel decoration, raised on a substantial circular base with moulded and scrolled supports. Finished in aged gilt with a soft varnished patina. Fitted with a later handmade lined silk shade of excellent quality, trimmed with gold fringe and tassels. The shade complements the classical form beautifully and gives the lamp an elegant presence. Removed from an Elizabethan stately home in Worcestershire. Structurally sound and of good weight, with some wear to the gilding and minor storage marks to the shade. As with all vintage lighting, electrical testing is recommended prior to use.
