Large Vintage Italian Cut Crystal and Gilt Metal Table Lamp Italy, mid-20th century A magnificent and highly decorative Italian table lamp of candelabra form, dating from the mid-20th century. This impressive piece combines cut crystal and richly detailed gilt metal in a design that draws inspiration from earlier 19th-century girandoles while reflecting the glamour of the post-war period. The baluster stem is executed in heavy cut crystal, deeply worked with diamond and starburst patterns that catch and reflect the light. Six conical crystal shades extend on gilt metal scrolled branches arranged around a central light, each shade mounted with a gilt collar and finished with a faceted finial. The result is a piece that sparkles with remarkable brilliance and presence, both as a functional lamp and as a decorative object. The gilt metal mounts are finely cast with foliate and scroll motifs, providing contrast to the clarity of the glass and adding richness to the overall design. The lamp rests on a circular gilt base with chased and repoussé detail, offering both stability and ornament. Of generous scale and weight, this table lamp measures 44 cm wide by 44 cm deep, and 70 cm high, making it a commanding centrepiece for a console, sideboard, or occasional table.
