Description

Artisan-Made Medieval Style Stone Planter on Lion Feet – One of Four Available An impressive and decorative artisan-made rectangular trough planter in composite stone, crafted in the Black Country in the late 20th century. This substantial piece is one of a small batch of four, each individually cast in a hand-made mould before being further hand-finished with chiselled detailing and an applied weathered finish in tones of grey and white. The design takes inspiration from medieval and Arthurian imagery, featuring a high-relief frieze of mounted knights in full armour, with lances and heraldic shields, set against a stylised castle backdrop. The figures are boldly rendered with a distinctive sculptural quality, evoking the romanticised pageantry of medieval combat. The trough is supported on two lion-mask feet and is extremely heavy and well-balanced. The applied finish has been weathered naturally over time, giving a convincing aged effect and textural variation. While decorative, the piece is also practical and suitable for outdoor planting, especially in traditional or historic-style gardens. Dimensions: Width: 88 cm Depth: 28 cm Height: 41 cm Condition: Good overall condition with some signs of weathered age and surface wear from outdoor use. Structurally sound and visually striking. Very heavy. Notes: One of four similar examples available.
