Description

Pair of Early 20th Century French Neoclassical Ewer Lamps with Putti Relief We are pleased to offer a striking and impressive finely detailed pair of early 20th century French table lamps, modelled after classical ewers and later professionally converted for electricity. Each is cast in brass with rich decoration: high-relief Bacchic putti encircle the body, with deeply modelled foliate motifs to the shoulders, and elaborate dragon-form handles in the classical manner. Mounted on later ebonised and gilt octagonal wooden plinths, these lamps are of impressive scale and strong decorative presence. The conversion has been carefully executed, retaining their sculptural quality while rendering them fully functional as table lamps. Supplied with very good quality handmade, silk-lined fabric shades. French, circa 1910 Both lamps measure (including lampshades) 55 x 45 x 107 (height) cm Good decorative condition with light surface patination and minor wear consistent with age. Fully wired and in working order
