Description

Fine George III Mahogany Work Table with Carved Paw Feet – c.1790 A very good quality late 18th century Georgian work table, dating to around 1790. Crafted in richly figured plum pudding mahogany, the top section features a central lift-up lid with storage beneath, flanked by two hinged side flaps with fitted trays. The front is arranged with six drawers—three to each side—with oak linings and original brass rosette handles. The central cupboard door is finely carved with a ribbon-tied laurel wreath. The frieze is carved with classical fan and scroll motifs, and the whole stands on bold hairy paw feet with acanthus-carved scroll supports—hallmarks of quality Georgian cabinetmaking. Provenance: removed from a stately home in Worcestershire. Condition: Very good antique condition. Restored shrinkage split to the top and a repair to one foot. Minor wear consistent with age.
